I appreciate your support this election.
Michael and his wife Brenda have proudly lived in Placerville for 20 years and share a deep love for the City of Placerville and its neighboring areas.
Michael Saragosa has dedicated himself to public service as a member of the Placerville City Council since 2018. Recognized for his leadership, he was elected Mayor by his colleagues in 2020 and re-elected in 2023.
Additionally, Michael serves as Placerville’s representative to the Sacramento Council of Governments (SACOG), where he advocates for our community's interests at the regional level.
Additional Experience:
Ensure the preservation of the iconic Old City Hall buildings, known fondly as the "Ketchup and Mustard Buildings"
Advocate for the establishment of a designated historic
district in our downtown area to preserve our community's heritage.
Supported the creation of the Placerville Fire Safe
Council. Their efforts led to a certification level that secured
modest insurance discounts for policyholders with most companies.
I will continue to work with state officials and private sector
representatives to provide our residents with more insurance options.
Recent revitalization efforts extend beyond the charm of Main Street. As a local city council member, I have played a key role in securing funding for vital projects like the improvements on Broadway and soon-to-come upgrades on Placerville Drive. These projects aim to enhance access, attract and retain thriving businesses, and make Placerville a destination for residents and visitors alike. With the recent CPUC recommendation of over $20 million in grant funds for broadband expansion, more than 1,300 underserved residents will soon gain reliable internet access, further ensuring Placerville is a place to live, work, and play.
Protecting the health and welfare of our residents, businesses, and visitors is my top priority. I will continue to prioritize funding to combat illegal campfires and explore alternatives to PG&E, such as regional micro-grids. Additionally, I will seek additional state and federal funding to address traffic issues and improve enforcement.
Our ongoing efforts funded by Measures H & L generate nearly $3 million annually for sewer and street repairs. We continue to invest thoughtfully in projects citywide, including the recent replacement of sewer pipes and paving on Spring & Mosquito Streets in 2020, and Upper Broadway, Coon Hollow, and Middletown Roads in early 2021. I will
Our ongoing efforts funded by Measures H & L generate nearly $3 million annually for sewer and street repairs. We continue to invest thoughtfully in projects citywide, including the recent replacement of sewer pipes and paving on Spring & Mosquito Streets in 2020, and Upper Broadway, Coon Hollow, and Middletown Roads in early 2021. I will advocate for increased city funds allocated to pothole repair and collaborate with county partners on regional solutions to ease congestion, particularly during peak times like Apple Hill visits and Tahoe traffic.
Recent state laws have unfortunately contributed to the closure of some local businesses. Placerville must an accommodating place for new businesses and a vibrant shopping destination. I am committed to fostering economic growth, job creation, and retention in our city. My approach to the city's budget is straightforward: efficiency and effectiveness without empty promises or gimmicks.
While we are fortunate to live in an incredible area, addressing
homelessness remains a
pressing issue. We have made strides, including clearing Upper Broadway of its homeless camp, but more work must be done. I am committed to enforcing our no-camping ordinance, especially in light of the recent
Supreme Court decision.
